Allergy Management

Hay Fever and Allergies are caused by a person having an allergic reaction to the environment surrounding them at.

For most people their symptoms are quite mild and consist of a runny nose, sneezing and itchy eyes which can be treated with over the counter tablets and nasal spray.

However for some people symptoms can be quite severe making it very hard to do everyday task and for some leaving their home.

At PrivateGP.com we believe we can help ease these symptoms and even in some cases remove them all together. If you are unsure what your allergies may be at PrivateGP.com we can offer a blood test or skin prick tests that will identify exactly what you are allergic to and then recommend a treatment to better suit your needs.

For those patients who have extreme symptoms of high histamine, we can explore the presence of a condition called MCAS, or mast cell activation syndrome. A genetic test is available to investigate this further and as histamine has such a broad effect on the body particularly with increasing gut permeability, we are able to also measure histamine and diamine oxidase levels

Remember that many foods contain histamine, or cause release of histamine in the body. Histamine levels are also dependent on the level of diamine oxidase. Diamine oxidase production is dependent on good methylation.

All of this is also influenced by nutrient deficiencies.

Tests & Treatments

We offer exploratory consultations to gain clarity on what is causing your symptoms. We offer simple blood tests, that are analysed quickly to give actionable results within 10 working days.

With the insights gained from the consultations and tests we are able to create a tailor-made treatment plan and/or dietary advice to eradicate your symptoms.

IgG ELISA test

One of the tests for detecting which foods you are sensitive to is the IgG ELISA test. This test looks at the foods we eat most frequently and can relate to gut permeability.

IgG is best explained as a tailor-made weapon in your own body that latches onto specific substances to help escort them out of your body. They are like bouncers on the lookout for a substance that you may be allergic to. The bouncers are called immunoglobulins or IgG for short.

Through our expert food allergy tests and food intolerance tests, we can customise treatments to reduce unpleasant symptoms and effectively treat complex health conditions. Book an appointment with us today to get back to a healthy and properly functioning you.

We also do testing for IGE allergies.

Our Consultant in allergy management, in paediatric and adult allergy and will perform skin prick tests. This is helpful especially in children as you can see the results of the skin prick tests very clearly. For hayfever, he can also organise immunotherapy duty and desensitise a patient.

From a Functional Medical perspective, we are able to look at aspects of histamine management by the body and can advise about mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS).
